Addition and subtraction test tomorrow. This test will be skill based only.

Estimating sums and difference using 3 different strategies

• rounding both numbers to the greatest place value (most common)
• rounding one number only (subtrahend when finding difference)
• looking at the digits in the highest place value only 

Adding using different strategies including

• standard algorithm (regrouping)
• adding from left to right (starting at thousands)
• place value chart
• easier question

Subtracting using different strategies including 

• standard algorithm (regrouping)
• adding up on a number line
• easier question (good when the minuend has a lot of zeros)

Study using your notebooks and yellow duotang.

Tubing Reminders

• Dress warmly: layers, warm coat, snow pants, mittens, hat, extra socks, warm boots, scarf
• BRING YOUR OWN HELMET IF YOU HAVE ONE (skiing, hockey or bike are fine)
• Large lunch with lots of snacks and water.... you'll be hungry!
• If you have goggles, a neck warmer or balaclava, you are welcome to wear them.
• The forecast is COLD but sunny!
