Good Morning Mighty and Marvelous Grade 4/5!

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Please take a moment and offer your intentions.

Our Lenten deed today..... help with dinner or dinner clean up without being asked.

God, Our Father, we pray for St. Nicholas students, staff and their families
Help us to share and take care of each other
Keep us safe and continue to protect us
Give us patience, and faith in your love
Be our friend, our companion and our hope
We thank you, Lord, for all our gifts and blessings
Teach us to have faith in ourselves
Guide us to follow in your footsteps
Forgive us and others when we have sinned
Strengthen us to have courage to never give up
Show us how to be examples of faith everyday
Be with us at school, today, tomorrow and forever
With lasting love, Lord, please guide us always,
In your name, Jesus Christ, Creator and Lord
Amen

Math

Answers to homework questions:
Page 38
The first question on the page is practice decomposing numbers into expanded form.
For example:
482 = 400 + 80 + 2
When we express a number in expanded form, we are showing the VALUE of each digit.

The second question on the page we are expressing STANDARD FORM given the expanded form.
Pretty easy.

The third questions we are dividing each place of the dividend by the divisor. Remember:
divisor x quotient = dividend
That's how you check the answer to a division question.

The last question on the page you are working backwards (use multiplication to figure out the missing digits.

Page 39 LAST PAGE!
On this page you are using a shortcut instead of long division. DON'T START.
At this point I'm going to introduce long division. Watch the video:

VLE
Features: ANNOUNCEMENTS and ACTIVITY FEED

Go to the announcements from the VLE homepage and click on our class (button with the tulips).

Click on Show All Announcements.

You should see this:

Read the announcement for today. Watch the video. Let me know if the video appears and/or if you can watch it. This video comes from the school board resource bank. I just want to make sure you can view videos from this source.

Read the rest of the announcements.

Go back to our homework by clicking our homeroom (Homeroom-Hollis) at the top of the page.

Below the announcements in the "Activity Feed"
The question from the announcements is in the Activity Feed. Write your answer in the box and press post. You can see above that Patrick wrote a response yesterday and I responded back to him. The Science video hadn't been posted yet.

The "Activity Feed" will probably be the place where you can ask me questions after I have given you an assignment or where we can have a group discussion. It's like having a chat with me or a discussion with the rest of the class. Everyone will see what you post. Sometimes several students might have the same question and are interested in the answer. This is for EDUCATIONAL purposes only. Please try to post something about the video to make sure you understand how to use this feature.

WRITING
I have shared a Google Document with your name. This will be your virtual notebook (except for Math and Mentor Sentences). Go to your Google Drive and look on the left hand side. You should see this:

Click on Shared with me. The file with your name should be there. Let me know if it isn't.

IMPORTANT... PLEASE READ
Parents,
Please let me know if you are able to view the new science video and post a comment on the activity feed. Again, communicating with me through School Messenger or email, for those of you not on School Messenger, is extremely important. I will post any last minute instructions on Sunday on the blog.
