Good Morning Mighty and Marvelous Grade 4/5!
In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Please take a moment and offer your intentions.
Our Lenten deed today..... go around the house and quietly clean up WITHOUT saying a word.
Our Lenten deed today..... go around the house and quietly clean up WITHOUT saying a word.
God, Our Father, we pray for St. Nicholas students, staff and their families
Help us to share and take care of each other
Keep us safe and continue to protect us
Give us patience, and faith in your love
Be our friend, our companion and our hope
We thank you, Lord, for all our gifts and blessings
Teach us to have faith in ourselves
Guide us to follow in your footsteps
Forgive us and others when we have sinned
Strengthen us to have courage to never give up
Show us how to be examples of faith everyday
Be with us at school, today, tomorrow and forever
With lasting love, Lord, please guide us always,
In your name, Jesus Christ, Creator and Lord
Amen

Mares-tail clouds waved in the sky, and the grass sang around us.
This mentor sentence is a bit more difficult. Here's an example:
Raindrops danced down from the dark sky and the wind howled above us.
The underlined phrases are examples of personification. Here is a list of sentences with personification. Use an idea if needed, but try to make your sentence original. Make sure you keep the structure the same. It is a compound sentence joined with a conjunction (and).

For grade 4, this division sign/symbol may be new. Grade 5 it should be familiar.
The questions on this page are just simple division facts from fact families you already know. It's just getting you used to using a different division sign and putting the quotient (answer) above the correct place.
Page 37
Again this is simple division with remainder. Find the multiplication fact that gives a number closest to the dividend without going over. Use your multiplication chart if you are unsure of your multiplication facts.

- Tomorrow I will be sharing a Google document with you called "Your Name: Daily Work". This will be your virtual notebook for now. I have cut and pasted all your writing files / assignments into that document EXCEPT mentor sentences. Some of you did all your writing in one document so it was easy to copy them.
- You do not need to share when you write in this document. I will see whatever you write. Some of you have been writing when I opened your document and my name and a cursor popped up. LOL.
- Do not share any other creative writing with me this week. Some students have an empty file because you did not share anything with me over the past few weeks. I know some of you wrote on paper. As of Monday, you need to write in that document except Mentor Sentences and Math.
- If you typed your mentor sentences, you're welcome to share them with me up to Friday.
- I will share another Google document called "Your Name: Mentor Sentences" on the weekend.I will copy and paste the two weeks you completed if you shared them with me.
- I haven't quite figured out math, so you're going to have to keep practicing in your green math notebook or on lined paper for those of you who were away on the Friday before March Break.
VLE
Feature: ANNOUNCEMENTS
This is where you will find your lessons each day. I have just linked a two page slide show (PDF) with a video to make sure everyone can open it. I know some of you are working on tablets and I'm not sure what you can open on a tablet or even what programs you have on your laptops at home.
A word of warning. Do not start clicking things randomly, "I wonder what would happen if I clicked this?" If you've turned something off, accidentally, it might take me a while to figure out how to fix it for you remotely. DO NOT CLICK THE PIN IN THE TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER.
Step 1: Go to the VLE (the page with your Google Drive and Mathletics)
You should see this:
Step 2: Click on the tulips (Homeroom - Hollis)
You should see this:
Step 3: Click on Announcements: Hello Mighty and Marvelous 4/5 (blue)
You should see this:
Step 4: Click on slide show (in blue)
What do you see?
Can you view the video on the second page of the slide show?
Let a parent know if you can or cannot. I'm still learning. I'm not sure if I did everything correctly.
There is another way to embed YouTube videos in the announcements, but I'm having some technical difficulties with that feature.
While watching several "how to" VLE videos over the past few days, I believe you must access the VLE using Google Chrome. Try that if something didn't work today or you had difficulty accessing the Religion Text Book on the homepage of the VLE.
Parents,
If it works, great. If it doesn't that's okay. Together we'll figure it out. Communicating with me through School Messenger or email, for those of you not on School Messenger, is extremely important.
