Decimal test on Monday.....
- Representing decimals on a number line (tenths grade 4, hundredths grade 5)
- Expressing decimals are fractions and mixed numbers and vice versa
- Representing decimals as part of an area (whole)
- Representing decimals on a place value chart
- Counting by decimals forwards and backwards (tenths grade 4, hundredths grade 5)
- Representing decimals using base ten blocks
- Knowing if the decimal is closer to 0, 1/2 or 1 (grade 4)
- Knowing which whole number a decimal greater than one is closer to e.g. is 2.3 closer to 2, 2 1/2 or 3
- Writing decimals in words
- Regrouping decimal place value e.g. 1.2 = 1 one + 2 tenths or 12 tenths / 1.89 = 1 one + 8 tenths + 9 hundredths or 189 hundredths
This last one is very important. Remember...
1 whole = 10 tenths
1 whole = 100 hundredths
1 tenth = 10 hundredths

Science
If you want to get a head start on your next assignment....
Choose one endangered and one extinct species.
Create one slide for each that includes the following....
- Photograph (if possible)
- Where it / was found
- Why is it endangered / or why did it become extinct
Try to choose species that you DON'T know a lot about.
Reminders:
- Reading test on Tuesday. Read your book carefully.
- Artist visit on Tuesday. 7 Students have not paid $4 to cover the cost of the session.
