Today you were given a Measurement booklet to practice estimating, measuring and changing units of length. You were given the option to take the booklet home to work on. Students who made the choice of taking home your booklet will the given extra time on the Chrome Books to finish assignments on Wednesday morning.
Grade fours were given their Quadrilateral test back for review. Still a few misconceptions. Hopefully after today you understand the difference between the different parallelograms.

A rectangle is a parallelogram with 4 right angles.
A rhombus is a parallelogram with all equal sides.
A square is a parallelogram with all equal sides and 4 right angles.
Does a square have all the properties of a rectangle.... yes!
Does a square have all the properties of a rhombus.... yes!
Does a rectangle have all the properties of a square... no!
Does a rhombus have all the properties of a square or rectangle.... no!
Students who did not do well on their Quadrilateral test are invited to rewrite it on Wednesday.
Grade 5 will get their geometry tests back on Wednesday. The biggest mistake students made was not classifying triangles based on angle size AND side length. It's important you read questions carefully and highlight each part of the question that must be answered.
If you do not know the key vocabulary in Geometry, it will be reflected in your grade or mark.
Science
Habitat tests should be signed and goals set. Please review your assessment folder with a parent.

We continued to talk about Canada's Food Guide and the importance of healthy eating habits. These are the questions that are part of your assignment if you'd like to complete some research at home:
1. Why are nutrients important?
2. Why is it important to eat a variety of food?
3. What nutrient gives you energy?
4. Choose your favourite food. Identify the food group(s) your food is part of, the nutrients found in your favourite food and the benefits of your food. Draw a picture or find a picture of your favourite food.
5. Choose a food you have eaten recently. What is a healthier alternative? Why?
Religion
Today we began our discussion on making moral choices and morality. God loves us so much and trusts us that he gave us the FREE WILL to choose and think for ourselves. Moral judgement is the ability to know the difference between what is right (good) and what is wrong (evil or sinful). It is the ability to use your free will to make good decisions. When we make moral choices, we are doing God's will. Morality is the understanding of what is right and wrong and living according to that understanding.
Some of the questions that we explored included....
What helps us understand right from wrong?
Where can I turn for help when making a moral decision?
Why should I take responsibility for my decisions?
Reminders:
- 7 and 8 times table test on Wednesday
- Jersey day Wednesday
At the end of the day, a group of student who take the bus sprinted down the hallway and around the corner to catch the bus. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE BEHAVIOUR. From now on students on the bus cannot leave until I am in the hallway. Thank you to the two students who returned when asked.
