 Math
Here are the answers to pages 22 and 23.

Answers to questions from yesterday in your green math notebook:

1)         80 crayons ÷ 8 crayons in each box = 10 boxes
            Lexie needs 10 boxes (grouping)

2)         120 white papers ÷ 10 papers in an envelope = 12 envelopes
            Lexie needs 12 envelopes (grouping)

3)         700 sheets ÷ 100 sheets per box = 7 boxes
            Lexie need 7 boxes (grouping)

4)         32 paintings ÷ 4 rooms = 8 paintings in each room
Lexie will place 8 paintings in each room (sharing)

Labeling the meaning of the words in your division sentence helps you understand the kind of division problem, sharing or grouping.

Perimeter questions:
1) 7 cm + 8 cm + 4 cm + 5 cm + 3 cm + 3 cm = 30 cm
2) 6 cm + 5 cm + 2 cm + 6 cm + 9 cm + 5 cm + 5 cm + 6 cm = 44 cm
3) 10 cm + 6 cm + 3 cm + 2 cm + 3 cm + 5 cm + 4 cm + 9 cm = 42 cm
4) 9 cm + 6 cm + 4 cm + 6 cm + 8 cm + 7 cm + 5 cm + 19 cm = 64 cm
5) 7 cm + 3 cm + 3 cm + 2 cm + 2 cm + 2 cm + 4 cm + 2 cm + 2 cm + 5 cm = 32 cm
6) 6 cm + 3 cm + 3 cm + 1 cm + 3 cm + 10 cm + 14 cm + 2 cm + 5 cm + 4 cm + 3 cm + 6 cm = 60 cm

Just like multiplication is repeated addition, division is repeated subtraction. Remember you are counting backwards. Start with the number on the right hand side of the number line.
What you are counting by on the number line is the DIVISOR.

The Cat Party
By far the worst thing that has ever happened to me was when my cat had his friends over. It all started when my dad drove my cat Rico to the cat food palace. When he got home  the door burst open from a tsunami of cats! That all turned into chaos and he started a party. They had chips, candy, and worst of all there was cat food all over the couches. This was such a mess.  When the party was over I cleaned up everything. There was so much stuff everywhere. Finally it was cleaned up. Wow, that was definitely the worst thing that happened to me.

Cats and dogs are just fine pets for most people if you ask me a PANDA would be the best pet ever. I know what you are thinking but let me explain. First, pandas are so cute and they only eat bamboo and drink water so it wouldn’t be too hard to feed them.  Second, they are good guardian animals and I would feel safe having a guardian animal pet.  Third, it would be easy to give them a bath because they are strong swimmers and like the water.  Keeping clean is important for staying healthy. As a pet, a panda would be a perfect choice for me!

Sometimes I would wonder what it is like to be 8 feet tall. I think there are some good things about being 8 feet tall and some bad things about being 8 feet tall. Here are some good things about being 8 feet tall. For example, if I had to reach something that is high up I could just get it myself instead of getting a chair. Another good thing about being 8 feet tall is if I was in a big crowd of people and I was short I would not be able to see anything so if I was tall I would get to where I want to be. If I was at a carnival I would be able to see everything and not miss a thing. Some bad things about being 8 feet tall is I would have a difficult time getting inside my shower or my car or even maybe through a door! Another reason I would not want to be 8 feet is if I want to hug or talk to someone or even go to the bathroom I would have to bend down and that would hurt my back. That is why I would like and dislike being 8 feet tall. Given the choice, I would rather be short.

In my opinion, I think the girl is determined.  I know this because when she saw the tiny person, she wanted to help him and she never gave up.  At the end when the tiny person was sad because his friends were leaving, the girl finally did it.  This shows that the girl has a good heart because she tries and tries until she finally does it.

In my opinion, the girl in the video “Soar” is helpful. I know this because she helped the little boy, and she never gave up on helping him make his airplane, even though the airplane kept breaking. This is helpful because he was too little to do it on his own, and if the girl didn’t help him, he wouldn’t have had time to catch up with the other little people who were putting stars in the sky. The girl in the video “Soar” demonstrates that when you help others you get more accomplished.

In my opinion I think the girl is helpful. I know this because she keeps trying to build a little boat  for the troll so the troll can put the star in the sky. I also think she is brave for continuing to try to build the boat and does not give up.  It was brave of her to help the troll build the boat so the troll could fly into the sky, instead of keeping the troll as a friend.
